In Abruzzo the week opens with stable weather and generally rising temperatures, heat and mugginess intensifying in the coming days
SITUATION. In Italy the weather is improving further due to the expansion of a high pressure promontory of North African origin which, starting from the next few hours, will favor stable weather conditions with temperatures generally increasing and values that will reach well above seasonal averages.
Residual conditions of variability mainly concern the extreme southern regions, but the situation will tend to improve in the next few hours, while in the central regions general conditions of predominantly clear or partly cloudy skies with increasing temperatures and humidity are expected. The heat will intensify further between Tuesday and Friday, with increasing sultriness along the coastal strip and maximum values close to or even above +40°C in the L’Aquila area, in the Peligna Valley and in the main valleys overlooking the Adriatic side.
The rise of hot air masses from the North African regions will also bring suspended sand at high altitude which will extend over a large part of the peninsula, with probable cloud cover. The latest updates of the mathematical models also highlight a possible subsidence of high pressure starting from the weekend, with easing heat starting from the centre-north; but it is, at the moment, a trend to be confirmed.
FORECAST. In Abruzzo general conditions of predominantly clear or slightly cloudy skies are expected; possible cloud cover close to the mountains during the central hours of the day and during the afternoon, easing in the evening. Little news in the next few days: prevalence of stable weather with maximum temperatures gradually increasing, but suspended sand returns. Heat and mugginess will intensify in the next few days.
