Basketball mourns Renzo Crosato, general manager of Stefanel Trieste and Milan

From 1987 to 1994 he was general manager of Stefanel Trieste during the “golden years” of Italian basketball, with Boscia Tanjevic on the bench and champions such as Fucka, Bodiroga, Nando Gentile, De Pol on the pitch. From 1994 to 1996 he held the same role in Milan, after the wholesale transfer of coach and players from the Julian capital to the Milanese one wanted by Bepi Stefanel. Renzo Crosato was the protagonist of this glorious story and many people remember him fondly these days. The sports manager passed away at the age of 76 at the Casa dei Gelsi hospice in Treviso, where he had been hospitalized for a couple of months, suffering from a serious illness. He lived with his family in Porcellengo di Paese and leaves behind his wife Marina, his daughter Ludovica and his brother Enrico. The funeral will take place privately in the next few days, as strongly desired by the family. Crosato, who would have celebrated his 77th birthday on July 18th, reached the pinnacle of success as a sports manager in 1996 (he had previously worked as a band employee from 1969 to 1988) when he won the Scudetto and Coppa Italia with Olimpia Milano, becoming Bepi Stefanel’s right-hand man. In his youth he had founded the Sporting club Vigor Sacro Cuore of Treviso of which he was also coach, also witnessing the merger with Hesperia, with the Maglificio Piave brand on the shirts, which was followed by the transfer to Conegliano. Like Stefanel, Crosato moved away from the world of basketball and managed the Medical sports center in Conegliano and collaborated with some sports clothing companies.
