Viterbo – “The White dinner returns on 29 June, a moment of sharing between people who care about the city and want to highlight its beauty”. The president of the Pro Loco Irene Temperini launches the total white themed event again this year to “dress” one of the many characteristic views of the city in white.

And if in previous editions the choice had fallen on Piazza San Carluccio and Piazza San Faustino, this year the White dinner will be organized in Piazza San Lorenzo. In the heart of the capital of Tuscia, between the Cathedral, Palazzo dei Papi and the Loggia.
“In other years we have always sold out – explains Irene Temperini -. It is particularly suggestive to see this white glance which ends up characterizing a symbolic place of the city. Because clearly everything is white themed, including the fittings. It will be a moment of sharing between people who care about the city and want to highlight its beauty without covering it.”
The president of the Pro Loco recounts the origins of the white dinner tradition: “The first Diner en Blanc was born in France in 1988 on the initiative of François Pasquier, a wealthy Parisian who, returning to Paris after a long stay in Polynesia, invited some of his friends to a picnic in the Bois de Boulogne, advising them to participate dressed in white so that they could recognize each other after so many years. Since that date the event has been repeated once a year, in different parts of the world, always in a public and prestigious place”.

And it explains how and when the blank appointment arrived in the capital of Tuscia. “In Viterbo, our Pro loco has registered the brand since 2016 and created the white evening event – explains Irene Temperini -. This year’s edition will be Saturday 29 June in Piazza San Lorenzo. In addition to eating and rewarding the most elegant and original ‘white’ groups, we will tell the story of the place we are in, and of the hill on which Viterbo stands as an Etruscan settlement”.
To pre-register for the White dinner, you can contact the number 393 3232478 or +39 339 2431579, indicating your name and surname and number of participants. Registrations can also be made during the edition of San Pellegrino in Festa and therefore on the days of 21-22-23 June.
“There will be chairs, tables, music and prizes, together with joy and the desire to be together – concludes the president of the Pro Loco -. From 8.30pm until midnight there will be musical accompaniment by Il Gatto e la Volpe, with Daniele and Giampiero Lattanzi. A repertoire of Italian and international light music that will keep company and brighten the evening of those who come for dinner and those who pass by to admire the square dressed in white. For the occasion, a total white setup will make Piazza San Lorenzo even more magical.”
