Pressed into a corner, the thirty-eight-year-old has confessed everything: it was he, on Friday evening around 9pm, who murdered his forty-year-old compatriot in the latter’s apartment.
Behind the atrocious gesture, matters of the heart: Roman had for some time an affair with his killer’s wife. Who had not only discovered it, but had also received some messages from Matvieiev himself confirming the matter and, in a provocative manner, they mocked him, also according to what emerges from an initial analysis of the cell phones examined by the investigators. Now, the thirty-eight year old – who has some police record and he worked occasionally in a car wash in the city – he was taken to the Dozza prison, under arrest as a crime suspect. The measure was signed by prosecutor Michele Martorelli, who coordinates the Flying Squad led by manager Roberto Pititto in the investigations. The suspect was tracked down by Mobile officers late on Saturday evening, while he was there on his car in the Pilastro area. Suspicions were immediately focused on him, not only because of his images recorded by video surveillance of the condominium, which left room for very few doubts, but also for the numerous fingerprints found by the forensic police at the crime scene attributable to him. However, the weapon has not yet been found.
Roman was found dying in his apartment on Friday evening around 9.30pm. He was collapsed in a chair, in a pool of blood. It was the man’s roommatea 52-year-old compatriot who Matvieiev was hosting in the cellar pertaining to his apartment. The two had been seen together around 7.30pm, but then the fifty-two-year-old had gone downstairs and lost sight of his friend for a couple of hours. Until the horrible discovery.
There victim presented a deep wound to the skullwhich later proved fatal, e another to the belly: he underwent emergency surgery at the Maggiore hospital, during the long operation his spleen was removed, but he was later died late Saturday morning due to the irreparable skull fracture. Evidently, his killer had already gone to his house with violent intentionsgiven that he was brandishing the wrench and staying in the apartment for a total of two minutes.
The fact that right on the armored door of his house Roman had attached a sticker on which – above the background with the colors of the Ukrainian flag and the drawing of a camera – there was a writing warning against “video control”, had not worried the suspect, nor had it made him desist. The man carried out his furious purpose and then ran away. Leaving behind Roman, still alive, but almost lifeless, immersed in his own blood.
The murderer, questioned at length by the investigators, is now detained in the Dozza prisonawaiting the hearing of validation of the arrest, which could be held as early as tomorrow. He is assisted by the lawyer Elena Dall’Aglio.
Matvieiev, although known in the area for some over the top behavior, he had no police record; in Bolognina for about four years, he had done the mason, but as far as we know he was recently unemployed. There was bad blood with his neighbors: several times they had complain about the shouting and shouting that they came from his apartment at all hours and that he was hosting a person in the cellar that was not used as a residence.
