Latina, Mayor Matilde Celentano’s council is teaming up around inclusion projects valid for the Lt2 socio-health district. A complex investment, achievable through Pnrr funds, which aims at the rationalization and efficiency of the integrated network of social and health services within the territorial area of reference, of which the Municipality of Latina is the leader.
“We are implementing – highlighted the first citizen – three different service projects, one of which can be implemented within an asset confiscated from organized crime. These are projects to combat extreme poverty, with the activation of a Post Office – Service Center and forms of housing first, and to support people with disabilities, with the preparation of autonomy paths, the so-called ‘After us’ . In the first case, a property owned by the Municipality of Latina was identified which, if appropriately renovated, will be able to accommodate 125 people assisted by social services. For housing first, i.e. that innovative model based on the inclusion of homeless people in individual independent apartments, with the aim of promoting a state of dignified well-being and forms of social reintegration, the municipal administration will proceed with a public notice for the finding of a compliant structure. Thanks to the active collaboration with the municipal administration of Sabaudia, which has made available a property owned by the municipal body, suitable for the purpose, we are working to activate the independence paths for people with disabilities as soon as possible, given the needs found within the Lt2 territorial area”.
There are two resolutions approved in recent days by Mayor Celentano’s council which frame structures and services in favor of the communities of the Lt2 social territorial area, made up of the capital city, the municipalities of Sabaudia, Pontinia, Sermoneta and Norma and regulated by a specific convention which was renewed last week.
At the direction of the councilor for social services Michele Nasso, the Latina municipal council approved, in last Tuesday’s session, and as a preparatory step to the subsequent act, the lines of activity on which to concentrate the investments that can be made with the Pnrr funds for programs complex, characterized by an immaterial component that requires professionalism in the social-welfare field and a structural component that requires technical professionalism to carry out the various phases of the interventions. “With this resolution – stated Nasso – the outcome of a constructive discussion on social services that the municipal administration of Latina had with the others in the Lt2 district materializes. The priorities in our Lt2 territorial area have been shared and the activation of these resources, deriving from the Pnrr funds, to combat extreme poverty and in favor of inclusion is a necessity to leave no one behind”.
Following the direction of the vice mayor Massimiliano Carnevale, with delegation to the Pnrr, the council then approved, in yesterday’s session, the framework requirements for the construction of the staging post for homeless people. “We have carried out – explained the deputy mayor – a detailed evaluation of the properties included in the confiscated assets and acquired as municipal assets, also in terms of critical aspects for the feasibility and feasibility of the work. A suitable structure was therefore identified. The works to adapt it for the purpose of the project have an estimated cost of 910 thousand euros and must be completed by 31 October 2025″.
“The aim of the work – declared Mayor Celentano – is to make the right to registry registration fully accessible to homeless people and to benefit from essential services connected to constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights; ensure the person’s availability, with particular reference to access to institutional communications linked to the exercise of citizenship”.
“The other properties resulting from confiscation and acquired from the assets of the Municipality of Latina – specified the deputy mayor Carnevale – do not present valid characteristics for the provision of the other two services identified in the previous resolution, which is why we looked for other structures. For the “After us” we were helped by the Municipality of Sabaudia, belonging to the Lt2 district, which made the property in Via Cesare del Piano, owned by the institution, available. For housing first, however, we will use a public notice to find suitable premises”.
