He triumphs at the Vosges Grand Est and returns to contention for the title. Fear for Bonato, victim of an accident
In delicate climatic conditions and on asphalts that are very difficult to interpret, Leo Rossel won his second rally in the French Asphalt Championship (CFR). Unlike most of his rivals, the Citroën driver managed to avoid problems and is back in the running for the French champion title. “This was my favorite rally. The car was flawless and the team did a fantastic job, including the reconnaissance team. I will savor this victory more than Le Touquet’s.” Rossel said.
Like Rossel, too Hugo Margaillan he avoided punctures and the pitfalls of the Vosges asphalt, obtaining his best result since racing with the Hyundai i20 Rally2. “When we saw the race pace on Saturday in these conditions, we knew we had to stay on the road and finish the rally without damage. The team did a great job and the car worked well. We must not give up; we will soon get to the first victory,” Margaillan commented.
The last step of the podium went to a surprising Quentin Gilbertbrilliant winner in the FRGT at the wheel of the Alpine A110 RGT. “We had a great race, reaching the podium. It was a very difficult demonstration. Great work for the scouts. Everyone worked really well and it’s a bit of a win for us,” he said upon arrival.
At the foot of the podium, Réhane Gany achieved his best result in the French Championship despite a rather complicated Saturday. Behind him, Lucas Darmezin, in his first appearance in the Rally2 category of the national championship, took home an applause-worthy fifth place. The demonstration was also marked by the accident of Yoann Bonato, a lot of fear and a fractured vertebra for the Les Deux Alpes rider. The general classification after this race seeand Rossel And Bonato tied on 59 points, with Rossel in the lead thanks to his two victories compared to Bonato’s only one. Margaillan is third with 53 points, followed by Camilli in fourth position with 41 points.
