On Friday 14 June the Ennio Flaiano Lions Club of Pescara celebrated the 28th charter night in the Promenade hotel.
Welcome guests for an evening dedicated to lionistic friendship were Paolo Antonucci, president of the Pescara Host club, Roberto Tassiani president of the Montesilvano Lion Club, Alessandra Romano, president of Fidapa Pescara Porta Nuova and the area president, Antonio Maiorano delegate by governor Marco Candela absent because he was busy with another event.

The outgoing president Aurelio Tracanna held, as usual, a report on the activities carried out during the year 2023 – 2024 in which the club participated in national, district and local service and study topics.

Among the most important are the district service for Wolisso in Vasto, the “kite festival” in Crognoleto, the “walnut festival” in favor of pediatric oncology. National services were also completed with the involvement of high school and middle school students (Progetto Martina, Viva Sofia, Poster for Peace). The national theme on “violence against women” was also addressed with the involvement of the Il Guscio association. In the month of May, at the Circus theatre, the concert by the orchestra directed by Angelo Valori aimed, together with the clubs of the district, at raising funds for the purchase of a guide dog for the blind had great importance. The project that required the most commitment, because it lasted over time, was the “Grand tour from the Adriatic to the Apennines” aimed at the conservation and valorization of internal areas threatened by depopulation. Various service clubs in the area collaborated, Lion Montesilvano, Kiwanis Pescara, Soroptimist Pescara, Fidapa Pescara Porta Nuova, Italia Nostra and Archeoclub. Historic homes have been identified in five municipalities in Abruzzo on which ceramic plaques have been affixed with a special ceremony. The creator and coordinator of the project was the architect Anita Boccuccia, President of the “Ville e Palazzi Dannunziani” Association. As the new President of the Lion Club, E. Flaiano, taking the floor, expressed his intention to continue along the path of valorising the territory, this time in Pescara with the creation of twelve new plaques to be affixed to the Liberty buildings in the city. The project for six residences in Porta Nuova (Villa Argentieri, Villa Domus Flores, Palazzo D’Anchino, Teatro Michetti, Palazzo Michetti, Palazzo Rosso) has already been presented to the municipality; Palazzo Di Biase, Palazzetto Imperato, Hotel Esplanade, Palazzo Musacchi, Villa Scaccioni and Villa Massignani in Central Pescara. Furthermore, a nature project called “The lily trail” is being developed which will affect the marine flora and fauna of the Pineta Dannunziana beach to raise awareness and involve especially young people in the problems of environmental protection.
