Cremona. In six days in Cremona, the centre-right mayoral candidate Alessandro Portesani, who had won 43.19% of the preferences, with 13886 votes, and Andrea Virgilio, the centre-left candidate who had achieved 41.94%, with 13484 votes, in an electoral round which on 8 and 9 June brought 67.19% of Cremonese to the polls, confirming a substantial parity between the two main opponents and a clear gap towards the other four candidates: Paola Tacchini, at 5.36%, Maria Vittoria Ceraso at 4.64%, Ferruccio Andrea Michele Giovetti at 3.64% and Angelo Frigoli with 1.23%.
The debate in view of the run-off does not seem to particularly excite the citizens of Cremona. The electoral campaign was slightly livened up by personal attacks between Luciano Pizzetti, leader of “Cremona sei Tu”, who supports Andrea Virgilio, and Alessandro Portesani. The figure of Pizzetti in these elections has often dominated the figure of Virgil. The centre-left candidate has just finished a week of meetings with the political forces excluded from the ballot, to evaluate the various possibilities. Alessandro Portesani met Maria Vittoria Ceraso, with whom, the candidate declares, he confirmed various programmatic convergences. Some ideas from Ceraso’s program will be included in the program of the centre-right coalition and in the event of election Portesani declares that he intends to take advantage of the willingness she has already expressed to collaborate in defining the program of her administration. However, you have unanimously ruled out formalizing an alliance and Ceraso herself confirms her position of equidistance from the two candidates.
