Cosenza. Usb: “Sicurtransport employees in a state of agitation: more profits on the shoulders of those who work”

With this press note USB Lavoro Privato Cosenza intends to announce the state of agitation of the employees of the company SICURTRANSPORT SpA.
The communication was officially sent to the company, the Guarantee Commission and the Prefecture of Cosenza.

Workers have long been forced into extremely difficult working conditions, the result of precise company choices aimed at increasing profits on the backs of those who work. SICURTRANSPORT SpA does not pay for the travel hours for the round trip to the sites to be monitored. Even when the company car is used, travel time from the operations center to the target and vice versa is not paid.

This lack of recognition of travel hours is unacceptable, the workers’ service, in fact, begins and ends at the operations center, the place where the company car is picked up and returned. Furthermore, mileage reimbursements are not recognized when workers use their own vehicles, despite this being provided for in articles 99 and 100 of the relevant CCNL. Workers also complain about the compression of daily and weekly rest hours.

The scheduling of shifts often does not respect the limits imposed by current legislation, not guaranteeing adequate psycho-physical recovery, with rest periods of less than 11 hours per day and 35 hours per week.

Even taking into account the exemptions granted by the legislation (minimum 9 hours of daily rest for a maximum of 12 times a year and 3 times a month), the shifts mandated exceed these limits, exposing workers to risks to their health and safety.

No way of scheduling working hours has been agreed upon, and shifts are constantly changing with little notice. This now consolidated practice does not allow workers to organize their private lives and live with dignity, causing inconvenience and damage recognized by jurisprudential guidelines.

Workers also complain about the assignment of split work shifts which include moments of mere unpaid waiting, even when they have to move to achieve different objectives during the same day. This work organization does not represent a novelty limited in time but is structural and places the burden on the employees.

For the reasons stated above and other critical issues noted, the undersigned trade union organization proclaims the state of agitation with the consequent opening of the cooling-off procedures envisaged pursuant to L.146/90.

We request an urgent meeting with the company management to discuss and identify possible ways to resolve the highlighted issues.

We trust in a timely response and a constructive attitude on the part of SICURTRANSPORT SpA to guarantee respect and protection of the rights of workers and improve their working conditions.
