Spiker Luigi Randazzo is a new Siena player

SIENA. Luigi Randazzo is a new Siena player. A spiker with great experience, born in Catania in 1994, Randazzo spent thirteen seasons in the Super League, playing a total of 251 matches in the top Italian volleyball series: on 12 occasions he was voted best player of the match. In the Super League he scored 2,110 points.

Luigi Randazzo played for the youth team and then made his first team debut in Macerata. Then he wore the shirts of Vibo Valentia, Città di Castello, Molfetta, then the return to Lube and the subsequent move to Verona. From 2017 to 2020, for three years, he played in Padua; then Cisterna, Taranto and the experience in the 2022-2023 season in Egypt in the Al-Ahli team with which he won the Arab Club Championship and the Egyptian Super Cup. Last year he returned to play in Italy, in his hometown, Catania.

Randazzo went through the entire youth national team process until wearing the blue shirt of the senior national team: in 2014 he won the bronze medal at the World League.

How did your move to Siena come about?

“This opportunity presented itself and I jumped at it. I like challenges. Often in my career I played to save myself, to defend the category. In this case, however, we will play to stay in the highest possible ranking position. Siena has a valid project and wants to return to the Super League. We on the field will give our best to achieve the goal.

I know Bonami, Nelli and Andrea Rossi and I know that the Sienese environment is very lively. The team has just played an excellent championship, reaching the playoff final. They tell me about an organized club that wants to make the leap to the top flight where Siena has already played for two seasons.

The players I know personally are good guys and hard workers. I see that on the roster there are some experienced elements and other younger guys. We will have to be good at quickly creating a good chemistry between us. I believe that there is quality in the group, and the diagonal is certainly important and of a high standard for the category.

Gianluca Graziosi is an excellent coach, he works a lot and over the course of his career he has achieved many good results. I can’t wait to start training.

It seems to me that in recent years the level of the A2 series has been increasing. We see exciting and complicated championships, winning is never easy. For me it will be nice and stimulating to play against Catania, then there are also other top teams built to do well.

It will certainly be a new experience, given that I have never played the A2 championship. The objective must be to try to stay in the top positions of the rankings in order to try to move up in category. As far as I’m concerned, when I go on the pitch I always try to win every match I play.”
