Another violent storm hit on the evening of Saturday 15 June around 8pm, hitting the Lower Varesotto area in particular. A very heavy downpour that caused flooding with roads transformed into rivers, not to mention the underpasses and trees uprooted by the violence of the wind, some of which fell onto the roads.
The firefighters are involved in various rescue calls, while the Civil Protection and mayors are also on the scene. Disturbances and damage were recorded in particular in Casorate Sempione, Solbiate, Caronno, Cavaria, Gallarate, Cardano al Campo, Morazzone, Caronno Varesino, Vergiate, Somma Lombardo and the area surrounding Malpensa airport.
Connection problems with severe traffic disruption have also been reported on the Autostrada dei Laghi between Besnate and Gallarate in particular.
The Municipality of Somma Lombardo he announced that the firefighters are operational in Maddalena, Civil Protection in Case Nuove, while the situation is also being assessed in Coarezza. “In a few minutes the unimaginable happened – the mayor wrote on social media Casorate Sempione Dimitri Cassani just before 10pm – flooding, tiles and fallen trees, we are doing everything we can with civil protection and volunteers to restore at least the main road”.
In Vergiate instead, as reported by the Municipality, a wall collapsed in via Gramsci and a lot of debris ended up on the road which was then transported by the water.
