The doctor I would like is the second of the three meetings of the Crossings – The Appian Way between stone and vision series, held in Rome at the Nymphaeum of the Villa dei Quintili; the exhibition is dedicated to the relationship between man and nature, told by experts and interpreted by artists. On Sunday 16 June at 6.30pm the naturopath Maria Clara Amato and Dr Michele Pellegrino will discuss, each from their own point of view, the medium-patient relationship, how it has changed over time and how it has entered into crisis.
Maria Clara Amato will explain how it is possible to recover the teachings of Hippocrates, Paracelsus and Galen, ancient knowledge, but which can respond to the new needs of patients; we will talk about alternative medicine, until not long ago on the margins and today part of the so-called integrated medicine; again, how psychology influences the immune system, and how specific medicine for women is necessary. Dr. Pellegrino will talk about the role of the doctor today, asking a paradoxical question; can the doctor still make the patient feel good?
Following this, Matteo Gentiluomo (dance) and Chiara Meschini (singing) will perform in the performance “Elegies” inspired by the verses of Gaius Valerius Catullus, the first true Latin lyricist, who sang Love as an illness and who knew how to express the panic relationship between man and nature.
“Crossings – The Appian Way between stone and vision” is a project promoted by the Appia Antica Archaeological Park with the support of the Ministry of Culture – General Directorate of Entertainment, conceived in collaboration with the Stone Theater Network.
