The body of a young man was found at dawn today inside the dam between piers III and IV of the Porto Franco Vecchio in Trieste. This would be the 24-year-old young man, of Moroccan nationality, who had dived into the sea on Tuesday. During some sort of party with a group of friends in an abandoned area of the Porto Vecchio and in the company of a friend – probably all a little tipsy – he had thrown himself into the sea from a pier.
The young man, Ayoub Lakhlalki, however never resurfaced. There are many hypotheses on the causes of death: the fact that he was drunk or the thermal shock or the current that could have pushed him to the depths. The piers in the area would be partially hollow and therefore the young man could have ended up under the pier and lost his orientation.
The group, seeing that the young man did not resurface, fled while the girl who was with him called for help.
Today the report of the presence of the body was received by the Port Authority of Trieste, via the Canottieri Adria company engaged in training activities.
The Coast Guard lookout was therefore immediately sent to the scene and proceeded with the recovery of the body.
