A 38-year-old Ukrainian citizen was arrested by the police. AND’ accused of the murder in via Ferrarese in Bologna where another Ukrainian citizen, Roman Matvieiev, died in the “Maggiore” hospital after having been operated on. Matvieiev was found on June 15 a few steps from the front door of his apartment a deep head wound. The 38-year-old, already known to the police, was stopped following an activity coordinated by the deputy prosecutor, Michele Martorelli, by the Flying Squad officers in the Pilastro area.
The police arrived at the 38-year-old arrested after one search at the crime scene – an apartment on the first floor of number 125 in via Ferrarese on the outskirts of Bologna – in which forensic personnel had detected some latent fingerprints attributable to him and after the meticulous control ofthe images recorded by the cameras present in the area. These have immortalized the arrival of the man armed with a blunt object at the building where the victim lived and his exit from the building, after a few minutes, with some obvious traces of blood along his arm.
Based on the information gathered, the public prosecutor issued an arrest order on charges of murder against the Ukrainian citizen found in the Pilastro area on board a vehicle used by him. Taken to the police station after the relevant searches, he was subjected to interrogation and, after arrest, taken to prison. The motive for the murder of the 40-year-old could be traced back to passionate reasons. Matvieiev died at the ‘Maggiore’ hospital where he had undergone emergency surgery following a wound to his belly resulting in the removal of his spleen and a fractured skull.
