«Great result, great team work»

BRINDISI – «Yesterday it was bad to see these posters, these flyers stuck on a wall. But it is also true that it was a summit in which there was no clash, there were no street clashes, we had no problems with public order and safety.” This was said by the police commissioner of Brindisi, Giampietro Lionetti, the day after the closing of the G7 which was held in the Brindisi area for three days. Yesterday some participants in the protest march in Fasano posted a photo of Prime Minister Meloni upside down and others of the G7 leaders stained red on their faces as if they were covered in blood.
«With our colleagues – he added – we carried out an information activity but also a communication activity, especially with those areas that disagree with the policies of the G7: we naturally allowed them to demonstrate, as required by the Constitution, but at the same time, through dialogue we managed to make him understand that there was no need to disturb public order. And I must say that the effect was visible, because absolutely nothing happened.”
“Yesterday’s demonstration – he concluded – was well organised, it had various areas of the antagonistic left that participated, various elements of these areas of the far left, but they did not create any problems”.

«The G7 in this province of Brindisi was an extraordinary professional experience, because we brought together all the police forces, we brought together all the armed forces, we worked together and there was a good result. I am satisfied with the work we have done. The police chief made the best colleagues I could have available to me and this was certainly an important element in carrying out this very complicated event.” This was said by the police commissioner of Brindisi, Giampietro Lionetti, the day after the closing of the G7 which was held in the Brindisi area for three days.

«It was carried out in a vast territory, with structures up to fifty kilometers away from each other. Therefore – he underlined – we were very good and the credit goes to a bit of everyone: the prefect who set up the committees in which we participated, myself first and foremost as a public security authority, but also our Carabinieri colleagues and the financial police, the armed forces”. The commissioner then underlined the importance of the joint operations room “which brought together the characteristics of everyone and the results were visible”.
«An important safety system was created in compliance with the rules and citizens. It is clear – the commissioner highlighted – that the citizens have suffered something. We have also communicated on several occasions that we would carry out this activity and we have not had any protests from the citizens, they too have done a lot, as have the institutions of this province: I am referring to the president of the Province, the mayor of Brindisi and to the mayor of Fasano”.
The leaders, Lionetti finally states, «have all left, they have all left. Nobody had any problems and we are very satisfied.”
