“From Etna to Gran Sasso” returns to Città Sant’Angelo: here are all the new features of the 2024 edition, including food and wine “magic”, tradition and music. Appointment from 20 to 28 July
Just over a month, and the 2024 edition of “From Etna to Gran Sasso” will be able to begin its journey. Appointment from 20 to 28 July. Meanwhile, the event is already warming up its engines with the countdown. The patronage of the Municipality of Città Sant’Angelo, of the presidency of the regional council, of the Province of Pescara, of the PescarAbruzzo Foundation, of the Aic (Italian Celiac Association) and of the Abruzzo Artistic Crafts Exhibition Body has been confirmed. There are several surprises, starting with the gastronomic novelties. This year, in fact, the gluten free menus will return, which will include delights such as arancini, cannoli, pizza, calzones, fish-based first courses, second courses always with fish as the protagonist, fried potatoes, dry desserts and much more.
Furthermore, the culinary twinning between Sicily and Abruzzo will offer new gastronomic creations, including Cipollina Pipindune and Ove, pistachio bocconotti and, highly anticipated, Nonna Pina’s Arancino Abruzzese with saffron rice and heart of callara-style sheep ragù. Traditional Sicilian and Abruzzo first courses will also be offered, as well as fried fish, kebabs, sausage sandwiches, cannoli, brioches and granitas. Among the new culinary proposals, the normal and stuffed Scrippelle stand out, and the “siciliana” fried Calzone.
The traditional parade of Sicilian carts will be enriched by processions of folk choirs and will be held not only on Saturday 20 July at 7.30 pm but also on Sunday 21. Furthermore, under the steps of Sant’Agostino, the singing event with the best covers will be held of Italian music, from Lucio Battisti to Ivan Graziani, from Rino Gaetano to Fabrizio De André. Then, rock music and the 70s-80s revival are inevitable. Finally, street bands, folk choirs and folk groups from Abruzzo and Sicily will be present. The decoration of the lights will be further enhanced to make the atmosphere even more magical, while the best artisans of Abruzzo will exhibit their works thanks to the Craft Exhibition Authority with evening performances by blacksmiths and ceramists.
