There are forty-two ecological operators who have been responsible for cleaning the buildings since yesterday beaches Baresi, in view of the summer season. The Amiu staff is in fact fully operational and this will allow the many citizens and tourists, who have been crowding the beaches of the city coast for days, to enjoy clean and more welcoming spaces. One aspect is the cleaning of the beaches which has created quite a bit of discontent on the part of the public in recent days bathers.
The cleaning
Some citizens had in fact complained about the presence of piles of waste on the beach next to San Francesco. And there were numerous protests. Many have not only asked for greater caution on the part of the administration, but also for the application of appropriate sanctions for those who abandon waste. The beach, also frequented by children, was in fact in such inappropriate conditions as to be unsuitable for spending a day at the seaside. In the past few days, posts and comments on social media from citizens have become very popular, expressing their dissent with photos and videos about the deterioration of Bari’s beaches. Pane e Pomodoro was immortalized at sunrise, after the weekends in May, like a carpet of waste. The most problematic situation is in San Girolamo where the beaches, in addition to not having yet been renovated, accept waste of all kinds and especially dog excrement: in some places they are impassable.
BariFurthermore, it is entering the period of maximum tourist influx and the beaches must be ready to welcome thousands of bathers, with particular attention to the cleanliness and hygiene of the common areas. From Mola to the former Lucciola in Santo Spirito, Pane e pomodoro beach and the San Girolamo waterfront included, so the “clean beaches” operation has come to life. The 42 ecological operators (category J) will be engaged in summer services on the stretches of bathing coast, not entrusted under concession. Furthermore, the last tranche of employment contracts was signed on Friday morning for the summer cleaning interventions on the beaches of Bari. The employees, selected from the 2022 rankings, were hired on fixed-term and part-time contracts of 24 hours per week. The first 17 operators began their service in May and will continue until September 14. Another nine have been added since June 1st, followed by a third group which will operate until August 31st. In fact, the third step of cleaning the beaches began yesterday. The preparatory phase in fact included an extraordinary cleaning that continued for 22 days and consisted of the collection of branches, small waste and bulky items beached. Then also the removal of biomass stranded in areas where the use of mechanical means is not possible, manual and mechanical weeding, the collection of syringes and the securing of dangerous waste for subsequent removal operations and the installation of 300 perches with relative bag.
In the first two weeks of June and September, according to the timetable, the operators will empty the perches with replacement of the bags and manually clean the coastline, with collection of small waste. The third step, i.e. the ordinary summer service, will last until August 31st, with daily passage of workers involved in emptying the perches, replacing the bags and manually cleaning the coast with collection of small waste. An afternoon service is also planned, dedicated to the San Girolamo seafront.
