ANCONA The tender for the furnishings has reached the finish line, the working table with Ast 2 and the Municipality will be reconvened in a few days. As in an odyssey, a tormented path of postponements, too many, the former Umberto I still doesn’t see the end. The final date to be stamped on the endless construction site of Largo Cappelli, which should shape two pavilions of the historic civil hospital of Ancona, built starting in 1906, into polyclinics, a protected residence for the elderly and a hospice, has been moved again. The bar moves forward another month: mid-July. Giovanni Stroppa is committed.
The target
The general director of the Territorial Health Authority of Ancona adjusts the timetable for moving the clinics from Viale della Vittoria to one of the two buildings of that regenerated structure. «Our goal, for the summer, was to launch them together with the Casa Rossa at the former Crass, the mental health center with 15 beds that had been closed for four years». And so be it. «Soon – he rearranges the details – the transfer from the medical offices in the avenue will begin, even if 90% of the furniture and equipment will be new. Some machinery will be maintained.” He doesn’t say too much about the void that that move will generate: “We’ll see, for us the focus is always on healthcare, but nothing has been decided yet.” For the other half of the work, still to be carried out in the premises of the old hospital, i.e. Rsa, Protected Residence and Hospice, the director relies on a hope rather than a certainty: “I predict that they will be ready by the end of the year”.
The merit
An acceleration to the epilogue, for which Stefano Tombolini takes part of the credit, together with the mayor Daniele Silvetti. The Doric councilor for Public Works recomposes the scene: «We managed to get Enel authorized to obtain the easement from the former Saco bankruptcy trustee and proceed with the connection of electricity. The cabin existed, it was just a stone’s throw away, on the other side of the road, the cable was already laid.” And let there be light. The councilor puts the actions in sequence: «So the testing of the two structures was carried out, the one that will house the clinics; the other which will become a 30-bed nursing home, which we will manage.” He stabilizes the cruising speed: «The works have been completed, the technical-administrative verification took place a month ago». He arrives at the summary: «Last Thursday there was a meeting at Palazzo del Popolo to close the chapter with the Rup, the sole person in charge of the procedure, and the Ast».
The condition
Tombolini returns to hammering home a point: «The curatorship that manages the area behind it which, before the bankruptcy of Ascoli’s Santarelli Costruzioni, had been earmarked for the creation of a luxury condominium, asked to delimit the area, to separate the medical offices from what should have become five-star homes.
