Fishing, 18 million arrive – Pescara

PESCARA. There are 18 million euros in resources that the Abruzzo Region, the Agriculture and Fisheries Department and the Local Development and Fishing Economy Service will make available for the implementation of the programming of the European Fund for Maritime Affairs, Fisheries and Aquaculture 2021- 2027.
This is what emerged from the “States General of Fisheries and Aquaculture in Abruzzo”, the regional event to promote the strategies and investment opportunities of the new Feampa which took place yesterday in Pescara. This is a higher financial allocation than that of other regions because, as the vice-president and councilor with responsibilities for Agriculture and Fisheries points out, Emanuele Imprudente«Abruzzo was among the best in Italy in terms of performance in the last Feamp 2014-2020 programming».
With these funds, adds Imprudente, «we are ready to draw up specific tenders based on the needs of the operators but, upstream, a concrete, supply chain and aggregation project is necessary since only in this way will we be able to build an Abruzzo brand: one of ours autonomous image that includes not only fishing, but also all those products that make our territory unique. A job in which this regional government believes a lot and in which we are sure we can make a leap in quality.”
«With Feampa we start again from the working method introduced by Abruzzo Sostenibile Blue Deal, the space for discussion created by the department, and by the Pact for Sustainable Development and Blue Growth», he states Francesco Di Filippo, manager of the regional Local Development and Fish Economy Service, «a document in which we shared the priorities arising from the thematic tables with the operators. Among these: support for young and new fishermen, support for coastal fishing, protection of the marine environment, decarbonisation, “from producer to consumer” strategy, modernization of the fleet, valorisation of the cultural and traditional heritage of fishing communities”.
During the meeting, the unpublished publication entitled “Fishing and Aquaculture in Abruzzo: An overview” was also presented, the first regional attempt to collect and reorganize supply chain data, conceived as a tool to support of all the players in the sector and created by the Local Development and Fish Economy Service of the Department.
Another novelty of the day, the debut of the single regional body “Gal Pesca” with its president Valentino Ferrante which anticipated the strategy regarding participatory local development activities.
They also intervened Salvatore Minervinogeneral secretary of the Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority; Debora Feriolicommanders of the Maritime Directorate of Pescara; Elena Sicodirector of the Agriculture and Fisheries Department and managers of the Local Development and Fishing Economy Service, Alessandro Cocca And Daniela Di Silvestro which illustrated the investment opportunities of the related fishing and aquaculture sectors.
