GIULIANOVA. A few days before the municipal elections, the great absentee from the competition, the former mayor Francesco Mastromauro, decided to break the silence with what he defined as a “truth operation”, directing heavy accusations at the centre-left, which according to him was the architect of an “announced defeat”. A vitriolic press conference yesterday, in which the former mayor spared no one, from the local leaders of the Democratic Party to the provincial and regional ones, passing through the 5 Star Movement and the governing Citizen; the latter was accused of having «imposed his own candidate for mayor Alberta Ortolani and of having created a breach of unity, through methodologies opposed to the democratic method”.
Mastromauro pointed the finger at the management of the Democratic Party in the last five years, defining the party as “absent” in the city and “incapable of receiving citizens’ requests”. He recalled that during his government activity the PD-led municipal administration was very strong, while he harshly criticized the local Dems for having followed the decisions of Citizen Governante and Movimento 5 Stelle as a “spare tire”, defining this choice as ” a losing game: they tried to compete with a blowpipe against Costantini’s panzers, it seemed as if they had agreed to make the outgoing administration win again.” The former mayor then recalled the time of the first direct election of the mayor in Giulianova in ’95, criticizing those nostalgic for that period defined as the “veterans of 1995” (with reference to Franco Arboretti and to his political group): «The Governing Citizen has never been a center-left association, as it was in opposition as was the 5 Star Movement: it is a historical false», he underlined.
The former mayor also denounced a hypothetical plan from above aimed at weakening the Giulia PD, with accusations directed at various members of the party, including the then secretary of the PD Minosse and the current Possenti, the former president of the province Di Sabatino, the then regional councilor Pepe and the mayor of Teramo D’Alberto, who according to Mastromauro wanted to reduce Giulianova to a “reserve of votes for the party’s leaders”. On a local level, the former mayor criticized those he sees as “political mercenaries”, primarily two former administrators of his council: Gabriele Filipponithen city secretary of the Democratic Party, e Federica Vasanella, group leader in the city council, defined as the “material executors of the thermocentric plan” and accused of having plotted against Giulianova. Finally he also ended up in the sights of the former mayor Giorgio D’Ignazioone of the Dem leaders: «I don’t understand in what capacity he is speaking and where his satisfaction with the electoral result comes from», concluded Mastromauro.
