A railway station with a fully automated traffic management system, to optimize train times. This is the objective that the Italian railway network, the leading company of the infrastructure hub of the FS group, intends to achieve. which will invest 1.7 million euros for this. The works at the Novara airport began today and include important infrastructural upgrading interventions. RFI wants to complete the adaptation of the track plan, an indispensable premise for the activation of the computerized central apparatus (ACC), a cutting-edge system which, thanks to information technology, will make circulation management more efficient, increasing the levels of regularity and punctuality of trains.

To allow construction site activities, railway traffic is interrupted from midnight today until 3.30 pm tomorrow. the same will happen on Sunday 23 June; these are days and time slots in which the demand for mobility is lower and consequently the impacts linked to the suspension of service on the line are more limited. Tomorrow and next Sunday the greatest impact will occur on the Novara-Borgomanero-Domodossola and Novara-Oleggio-Arona lines. A rescheduling of the service is expected with replacement bus routes between Novara and Borgomanero and between Novara and Oleggio, changes to timetables, possible increase in travel times, also in relation to road traffic. The buses will make intermediate stops at all the scheduled stations of the respective lines. From August 9th, for 3 weeks, it is The cancellation of trains on the Novara-Borgomanero-Domodossola route is also expected. The suspension of railway traffic, in this case, was established to allow the works to activate the 750 meter crossing track in the Cressa Fontaneto station. It is a fundamental track for the passage of new freight trains, which are particularly long and require adequate tracks for crossings or switches; the line is in fact interested in the passage of the rolling motorway, the trains that transport trucks to Switzerland and Germany, and now counts on freight traffic with growing volumes. The intermodal operator Hupac, which is also responsible for the operational management of the intermodal freight centre, the CIM of Novara, will increase journeys from 9 to 10 every week between Novara and the Belgian port of Zeeburgge. —
