Seafront closed: traffic at a standstill in Montesilvano – News

Montesilvano. Complicated morning for those who have to move on the streets of Montesilvano: the closure of a stretch of the seafront, in fact, caused queues and slowdowns in several areas.

At the origin of everything are the closures caused by the preparation of the route for the Italian Triathlon Aquathlon championship, scheduled for the weekend.

In fact, from the roundabout at the intersection with via Marinelli, southbound traffic is diverted towards the Nazionale, with the result that many people resume their route towards Pescara, turning into via Lazio. Upon arriving at the intersection with via Torrente Piomba, now clogged, the municipal police divert traffic again towards the seafront.

This all adds up to the anti-flooding works in via L’Aquila, which has already been closed for several days.

Problems also for those traveling along the seafront heading north, with progressively forming queues. Queues, in parallel, also on the National Road, where there was also the breakdown of a garbage disposal vehicle, which broke down at the traffic lights in Via Adige, adding further slowdowns.

ROADS CLOSED FOR THE WHOLE WEEKEND

As many as 1,200 athletes from all over Italy for a total of 5,000 attendees are expected in the city until June 5, when almost 500 kids will try their hand at a Duathlon simulation (bike and run) in the Pala Dean Martin car park.

Functional to the event is the closure of several roads:

  • From 8:00 on 31 MAY to 20:00 on 2 JUNE, the traffic closure will concern part of via Aldo Moro, in the section of via Isonzo/via Marinelli.
  • From 7.00 am to 7.30 pm on JUNE 1st, the closure to traffic will concern part of Via Aldo Moro in the section of via Torrente Piomba/via Europa.
  • From 7:00 am to 7:30 pm on 2 JUNE, part of Via Aldo Moro will be closed in the stretch of via Arno, viale Europa and the ring made up of the stretches of via Marinelli (via Moro/via Sulmona), via Sulmona ( via Marinelli/via L’Aquila), via L’Aquila (via Sulmona/via Firenze), via Firenze (via L’Aquila/via Isonzo), Isonzo (via Firenze/via Moro).
