Palio dei rioni 2024 – Arezzo Informa

After the meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security held last May 24th in the Prefecture, and after the Technical Roundtable held yesterday afternoon at the local Police Headquarters, it was established that the deadline for ceasing the activities of serving drinks and food and musical events will have to take place this evening, Saturday 15 June, at 2.30 am and Sunday 16 June, at midnight.

It is also established that on the evening/night of Saturday 15 June 2024, all administration or entertainment establishments located upstream of the SR71 must cease all activity and close the establishment to the public at 2.30 am, coinciding with the closing of the local entertainment.

In the ordinance, which aims to reduce the risks to safety and, at the same time, contain the potential damage due to excessive behavior, accentuated by local rivalry, as well as the use of alcohol, it was deemed necessary to adopt the useful measures to ensure civil and orderly coexistence.

Therefore, it is prohibited:

  • from 3.00 pm on 15/06/2024 to 7.00 am on 17/06/2024 and, only in the event of postponement of the Palio, from 3.00 pm on 22/06/2024 to 07.00 am on 24/06/2024, to all serving establishments, as well as to vending machines located upstream of the SR71 to sell drinks of any kind, in glass containers and cans, to take away;
  • from 3.00 pm on 15/06/2024 until 7.00 am on 17/06/2024 and, only in the event of postponement of the Palio, from 3.00 pm on 22/06/2024 to 07.00 am on 24/06/2024, at all serving establishments located upstream of the Sr71 to supply and to customers to consume drinks of any nature in glass containers and cans in public areas open to the public, including relevant areas subject to authorization for the occupation of public land;
  • the presidents of the districts to administer, sell to take away or introduce drinks of any nature in glass containers within the area involved in the event
  • from 00.00 on 15/06/2024 to 2.30 on 17/06/2024, to all the serving establishments located upstream of the Sr71, as well as to the presidents of the districts for the serving events organized by them, to administer alcoholic beverages with alcohol content higher than 6 degrees (for cocktails each single component must have an alcohol content no higher than 6 degrees).

It is also prohibited, within Piazzale Garibaldi, the area where the Palio dei Rioni takes place:

  • to anyone, the introduction and use, for any purpose, of smoke bombs, firecrackers and any pyrotechnic device, stadium horns and other sound instruments, rigid poles of any cut and flexible poles longer than one meter (including umbrellas with the exception of retractable ones without a tip), strollers, laser lights or other objects capable of causing harassment and even potential disturbance to the equines and to the event (the service staff at the access gates will verify compliance with this ordinance also by inspecting bags and other accessories);
  • to the owner of the temporary business located within Piazza G.Garibaldi, the sale and administration (also for takeaway) of alcoholic beverages of any strength, and the transfer of glass containers and/or cans;
  • the introduction of glass containers and cans into the area;
  • the consumption of alcoholic beverages of any strength;
  • the entry into the square of people in a clear state of drunkenness;
  • access to the square with sealed plastic bottles;
  • positioning oneself in places not identified as assigned seats or as suitable for the public to stay;
  • positioning yourself on the embankment below Via XXI Luglio 1849, regardless of having an entrance ticket and allowing pedestrians to access Via XXI Luglio 1849;
  • access to the area reserved for horses located at the Foro Boario for all those who have not been authorized by the Pro Loco by providing a special pass accompanied by a photo;
