The Chamber Music Season continues successfully, the series of concerts involving the Orchestra Professors of the San Carlo Theatre in different formations. The next appointment will be Sunday 16 June at 6.00 pm with Homage to Italian Opera. On the programme, compositions inspired by the most famous arias and themes of this operatic tradition: the music of Gioachino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini is arranged in a modern and completely original key by Pasquale Bardaro.

The protagonist is the Jazzphony Sextett. The ensemble is made up of Pasquale Bardaro himself on vibraphone with Salvo Lombardo and Giovanna Maggio on violins, Pietro Lopopolo on viola, Silvano Fusco on cello and Giovanni Giugliano on double bass. The program opens Giuseppe Verdi. His Traviata is revived through “Amami Alfredo” and “Libiamo ne’ pleased calici” which, in Bardaro’s arrangements, become Love me now and Cheers. And again by the composer from Busseto, Brown’s dance is inspired by the “Dance of the little Moorish slaves” from Aida, while Woman is inspired by “La donna è mobile” from Rigoletto.

There are, however, three proposals that pay homage Giacomo Puccini: The bright stars is inspired by “E lucevan le stelle” from Tosca, Come on let’s go to the Intermezzo from Manon Lescaut and My name is a “Mi cuore Mimì” from La bohème.
