Bergamo Pride 2024, 5 thousand at the rainbow parade of rights that fills Bergamo

Between 4 and 5 thousand people took to the streets to participate in Pride. “Too many are still discriminated against today. This demonstration is to make them feel less alone and abandoned” reiterates Vittoria Pellegrini, president of Bergamo Pride. The predominant colors are those of the rainbow, symbol of inclusion. “Today is a day of celebration. We are all united to demand fundamental rights” adds Marzia Marchesi, among the politicians who took part in the procession. There were few Palestinian flags, despite the controversy that preceded the Municipality’s decision to revoke its patronage of the event after a post that appeared on Facebook against the presence of Israeli flags at the parade. “We have not placed any bans or have any intention of removing them” Pellegrini points out. Before the parade starts, however, among the interventions of the associations there is no shortage of critical comments towards Palazzo Frizzoni’s decision.
In addition to Marchesi, Romina Russo, Alessandro De Bernardis, Gabriele Giudici and a delegation of young people from the Democratic Party also marched. There is no Elena Carnevali, but in the procession there is Vittorio Apicella, mayoral candidate for the 5 Star Movement: “I’m here like last year to support a splendid event, full of colors and diversity. Diversity gives a strong push to progress.” Among the floats, the novelty is that of the CGIL pensioners: “It’s not a problem of age, but of mind. We cannot think that diversity is a flaw” comments the secretary Augusta Passerà. Starting from the station, the procession will arrive at the Malpensata park, where the party will continue until midnight.

Here are the times and route: The time of meeting is at 3.30pm in Piazzale Marconi, where departure is scheduled for 4pm. The parade will wind along viale Papa Giovanni XXIII, viale Roma, via Petrarca, Largo Belotti, Largo Gavazzeni, viale Papa Giovanni XXIII, via Tiraboschi, via Paglia, via Bonomelli and via S. Giovanni Bosco. The arrival is scheduled for 6pm at Parco Olmi on Malpensata.

A large stage will be set up in the Ermanno Olmi park where you can attend performances, talks and guest speeches. There will be the opportunity to eat and drink thanks to the local stands of the Bergamo Pride safe network, creative workshops will be set up and the Fast Track point where you can take the anonymous, free and fast HIV test+ and a chili area where you can meet with the professionals from Casa Medica and Stujdio Dialoghi. All hoping that the weather doesn’t ruin the party.
