On Inter: “The first contacts date back to the summer of 2021, I was playing left wing in Mönchengladbach. When I talk to Inter I immediately understand that their plan is to have me play up front. At that moment I didn’t really understand. Dad had told me that I would end up in front, others did too, but from there to when Inter bought me to play up front it was surprising. But in fact it was the club that knew me best. I got injured against Leverkusen and the transfer went wrong, but they always kept themselves informed. They came back after the 2022 World Cup, it seemed obvious to me, especially because I was playing in attack in Gladbach. When we have clear ideas we remain focused despite other interests (Milan, PSG)”.
On the Scudetto won against Milan by his national team teammates Giroud, Maignan and Theo Hernandez: “It’s football, we are close off the pitch, but on the pitch there are no friends. We knew that we could do something great, in a very important match, the motivation was extreme. And we knew that they were worried.
