Jesi – Last June 11th, in the evocative setting ofHotel Federico IIthe seventh edition of the horizontal tasting of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, organized by the Delegation Ais Jesi and Castelli, in which they took part twenty producers with their exclusively vintage bottles 2014proposed in version superior or reserve.

Never like this year was the challenge open to any scenario, given the undisputed criticality of the vintage being tasted, notoriously the most difficult, humid and rainy of recent times, also characterized by hailstorms and heavy attacks by some fungal diseases.

Although the seasonal trend was not favorable, the quality of the grapes turned out to be average Good and they are quite interesting aromatic profileswhich were perfectly reflected in the defined tasting horizontal as it involves tasting the wine of the itself vintage and of same grape variety But say producers different.

The wines were served out on a limbthat is, without the taster knowing the contents in his glass, and in absolutely order randomprecisely to guarantee maximum transparency, objectivity And impartiality in judgements. The producers themselves actively participated in the tastings sommelier professionals from the Regional Council ofItalian sommelier association Marche.

The results were surprising, because after 10 years from the harvest and in a particularly difficult year, in almost all the samples it was found a good predisposition to refinement, an obviously leaner sip but an acidity still well marked and integrated into the wine, which invited re-tasting. What convinced the audience of technicians the most was the Classic Verdicchio reserve Misco from the Tavignano estateappreciated above all for its balance and taste-olfactory elegance, followed by Verdicchio classic reserve Full Of Humans Ronchi and from Superior classic Verdicchio Via Condotto of the Company Tenuta Musone Colognola.

The other participating companies, in alphabetical order: Broccanera, Casalfarneto, Fattoria Coroncino, Fazi Battaglia, Finocchi Viticultori, Garofoli, Mancini Benito, Marotti Campi, Montecappone, Piersanti, Roberto Venturi, Santa Barbara, Sartarelli, Stefano Mancinelli, Tenuta di Tavignano, Terre Cortesi Moncaro, Vicari.
