ABRUZZO – It was the speech of the vice president of the regional council, Emanuele Imprudente, to conclude the 2024 edition of the General States of Fisheries and Aquaculture, which were held this morning in Pescara, in the Camplone room of the Chieti Chamber of Commerce -Pescara.
«We are here to discuss with all the stakeholders – said Imprudente – both with respect to the future prospects of the sector and to take stock of the state of the art and therefore of the investment opportunities in Abruzzo. In particular, – underlined Imprudente – we aim to make people understand how the over 18 million euros of community funds from the EMFFA, the European Fund for Maritime Affairs, Fisheries and Aquaculture, can prove crucial to innovate, support and grow an entire system which in Abruzzo is relevant above all for history, identity, tradition and culture. We are investing heavily in this sector – continued the vice president – and, not surprisingly, Abruzzo has recorded excellent performances at a national level precisely due to the virtuous use of these resources through previous programming. Therefore, in a moment of great difficulty for our companies – he added – we are making substantial resources available which can be used in a structural way”. Imprudente also confirmed that “the funds are already available and the first tenders will be released soon. In essence, a process will be completed which, obviously, was conducted according to the procedures established by the programming. It will be a kind of work in progress – concluded the vice-president of the Council – with tenders that are coordinated and move with a view to the general interest, therefore also taking into account realities such as on-shore structures, ports and so on. can be connected to the world of fishing and aquaculture.”
After the opening of the works by Imprudente himself, the president of the Chieti-Pescara Chamber of Commerce, Gennaro Strever, the general secretary of the Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority, Salvatore Minervino, and the head of the Fisheries section of the Maritime Directorate of Pescara, Commander of the Corvette, Debora Ferioli, the Director of the Agriculture Department, Elena Sico, illustrated the organizational and financial framework of the FEAMPA National Program in Abruzzo. The regional manager of the Local Development and Fish Economy Service, Francesco Di Filippo, representative of the intermediate body of the EMFFA 2021-2027 management authority, focused instead on the topic of “From the EMFF 2014-2020 to the EMFF 2021 -2027 and new development opportunities”.
After the screening of the video “The value of the sea” relating to the support of the Abruzzo FEAMP 2014-2020 for fishing and aquaculture, Daniela Di Silvestro, head of the “Aquaculture Support and Coastal Development” Office and Alessandro Cocca, head of the Office of the “Fleet Support and Structural Interventions” Office while the president of the Abruzzo SCARL Fishing GAL, Valentino Ferrante, illustrated the GAL’s activities and its strategy.
