He wandered near the access gates to the airport security checks at Marco Polo of Venice, queuing up with departing passengers in a clear state of confusion: this is why it attracted the attention of Border Police patrolemployed in the control of the departure hall, which is considerably crowded, particularly on weekends.

The man, undocumented and with mobility difficultiesdid not understand Italian, so the Border Police men accompanied him to the offices to make him feel at ease and try to obtain some more information, useful for identification.

Through one photographic comparisoncarried out through police databases and the acquisition of fingerprints, it was possible to trace the identity of the man, a Romanian citizen, who had been reported as missing person from the Prefecture of Rovigo.

The disappearance report was presented by the family of the man, resident in the province of Rovigo, with the news of the last sighting at the Portogruaro train station on 10 June. Then all trace of him was lost and for this reason the Provincial search plan for missing personsalso involving the Prefecture of Venice.

Once the identification has been completed and the identity is certain, the police have contacted the man’s family who a few hours later, relieved by the happy news, arrived at the airport to take him home. Another story that ended with a happy ending thanks to the operators of the Lagoon Border Police who demonstrated a great sense of humanity and solidarity.
