Ancona is the only team excluded from the next Serie C championship. The news has been known for days but yesterday the FIGC federal council ratified it officially and definitively.
“There is great satisfaction for having secured the system – declared the president of the Football Federation, Gabriele Gravina, after the federal council meeting in Rome –, it will be the first summer without appeals for admission to the championships. Never in the history of the Italian football, the championships at the beginning of June were at full strength with the exception of the void left by Ancona, which will be filled by 27 June (date of the next federal council, ed.)”.
To complete the only exclusion from the group of sixty, the council proceeded to approve the criteria for the repechage which includes a second team from the Serie A championship in first place. The probable inclusion of Milan under 23 is defined by Gravina as a “brag “: whether or not Serie C can boast of having three second Serie A teams, with budgets and organizational means decidedly different from most of the other competitors is questionable to say the least, but unfortunately the topic no longer interests Ancona and football in the capital which have been in the hands of mayor Daniele Silvetti for ten days.
What can be saved must be saved, that is, the registration for Serie D. Next Monday or Tuesday the mayor will meet in Bologna with the lawyer Stefano Giangrande from Milan who has the power of attorney from Tony Tiong to address all the issues urgent for which Silvetti himself, in recent days, gave an ultimatum to the red and white president. The company’s accounts need to be verified, which are the ones that most closely concern the consortiums potentially interested in taking over, just as it needs to be understood whether Tony Tiong is willing to sell Ancona.
