VARESE – There is also a person from Varese among the 9 arrested by the Postal Police, as part of a nationwide investigation into online child pornography and is coordinated by the District Attorney’s Office of Catania. The investigation, conducted by Operational Center for Cyber Security of the Postal Police of Catania, allowed 26 people to be investigated throughout Italy for possession and dissemination of child pornography material, subjected to personal and IT searches.
The investigations, coordinated by the National Center for Combating Online Child Pornography (CNCPO) of the Postal Police Service, began with a complex IT analysis activity on some electronic devices seized from a suspect, arrested months ago for the same conduct, on which – within a messaging platform – groups dedicated to the exchange of gruesome images and videos were found, with abuse even of very young children.
Meticulous and complex investigations, even of an extremely technical nature, led to the identification of the subjects active in the groups, against whom the Prosecutor’s Office issued personal and computer search orders. The searches were carried out with the collaboration of the various Operational Centers for Cyber Security of the Postal Police, in Catania, Rome, Milan, Brescia, Varese, Bergamo, Catanzaro, Bari, Foggia, Turin, Cuneo, Genoa, Imperia, Avellin, Livorno, Prato, Ravenna and Ascoli Piceno.
Those arrested reside in the provinces of Catania, Rome, Milan, Florence, Bergamo, Ravenna, Varese and Imperia. One of them, in addition to thousands of child pornography files, had the digital format of the book in his cloud “The pedophile’s guide” (pedophile’s guide). The material found and seized during the searches is being examined by the investigating magistrates and the Postal Police for further investigative insights also useful for the identification of young victims.
In any case, the principle of not guilty applies to those under investigation until a final sentence is reached.
