Today’s edition of “Il Giornale di Sicilia” focuses on the Palermo market and De Sanctis’ objectives.
As the days progress, Palermo’s transfer market begins to take shape, with the club defining the identikits and characteristics of the players to be included in the squad. Although we are still in the early stages, preliminary contacts and exchanges of information have already begun.
Contacts and Open Tracks
Sports director De Sanctis has started contacts with the agents of the players currently in the squad to discuss the technical project around each element. At the same time, several paths have been opened for potential new signings.
Axis with Inter
The axis with Inter seems to be the most promising. Palermo have set their sights on Sebastiano Esposito, a young striker who has shown good qualities in Serie B with Sampdoria. The possible formula for his transfer could be a loan with right of redemption, which would become an obligation in the event of promotion. An alternative could be his younger brother, Francesco Pio, who has just spent a year at Spezia. Another interesting name is that of Topalovic, Slovenian playmaker from Domzale, close to Inter but already followed by Palermo in the last winter transfer window.
Interest for Ascoli players
From relegated Ascoli, Palermo has identified Pedro Mendes, a striker born in 1999, scorer of eleven goals in the last championship. Twenty-four-year-old playmaker Caligara is also under observation, having made 26 appearances and five goals in the season just concluded.
Possible Other Objectives
Mazzitelli from Frosinone
Mazzitelli, currently at Frosinone, could be an interesting option if the Ciociari’s project does not immediately aim for a return to Serie A.
Viola for the Median
To strengthen the midfield, Palermo could consider the purchase of Viola, an experienced player who would bring technique and leadership to the team.
Defence
For the defense, Ferrari’s name, whose contract expires with Sassuolo, remains in pole position. Palermo’s new coach, Dionisi, knows him very well.
Internal situation
As for the players currently in the squad, Segre continues to be on Lecce’s radar, while Brunori is the subject of interest from Genoa, Empoli and Sassuolo.
