The commemorative stamp: “A tribute”

The Tower celebrated on a stamp. It is the tribute of Poste Italiane, guest of the Opera Primaziale Pisana at the inauguration of the exhibition “The Tower in the Mirror” with its representatives: Claudio Vescovi, commercial coordinator Philately Center North and Fabrizio Gaudio (Pisa branch manager). The ordinary stamp is now issued by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy and belongs to the thematic series “Italian artistic and cultural heritage” dedicated to the Tower. “The stamp – explain Vescovi and Gaudio –, printed by the State Mint, costs 1.30 euros and was made in three hundred thousand and fifteen copies (and 45 sheets) in rotogravure, on white, neutral coated, self-adhesive, non-fluorescent paper. The sketch is curated by Maria Carmela Perrini”.

The cartoon depicts the Tower of Pisa which “stands majestically in Piazza del Duomo, an iconic symbol not only of our city but more generally of Italy in the world”. The stamp is completed by the legend ‘Tower of Pisa’, the writing ‘Italy’ and the tariff indication “B zone 1”. The first day of issue cancellation will be available at the philatelic counter of the Pisa Centro post office. The stamp and related philatelic products, postcards, cards and illustrative bulletins will be available at post offices with philatelic counters, the “Filately Spaces” in Florence, Genoa, Milan, Naples, Rome, Rome 1, Turin, Trieste, Venice, Verona and on filatelia.poste.it website. “For the occasion – concludes Poste – a three-fold philatelic folder in A4 format was also created, containing a quadruplet of stamps, a single stamp, a canceled and stamped postcard, a first day of issue cover and the illustrative bulletin, at the price of 20 euros”.
