Saturday 8 June Giovanna D’Annibale of the “Antium Fitness” gym in Anzio he competed for the first time at the “Hyrox” world championship in Nice after having conquered first place in Rimini in 2023, the first stop in Italy. “Arriving at the world championship and comparing myself with the strongest in the world of discipline was an indescribable emotion – said Giovanna. Head, heart and legs allowed me to compete with determination and tenacity, bringing honor to my city, Anzio. I am happy to have had this unique and indelible experience. I finished my world championship twelfth out of 61 athletes and first among the Italians in my category. I thank those who allowed all this; the cheering from afar supported me. My partner Giuseppe Ferrandes was important with whom I set up the race meticulously.” From May 30th to June 1stHowever, some athletes from the Neronian city and from Giovanna’s gymnasium participated in the competitions “Hyrox” by Rimini Wellness. Patrizia Biliardello and Carla Giammatteiin the “Double Women Age Group 50/59”, concluded their very first experience in tenth position out of thirteen couples present while Giuseppe Ferrandes, in the “single man age group 40/44”, came twenty-fourth out of 190 athletes and eleventh among the Italians. The world-class “Hyrox” discipline was born in Germany in 2017 and then took hold in Europe and America. The first stop in our country is in June 2023, on the occasion of the Fitness fair in Rimini, and later it also touched Turin and Milan with an ever-increasing number of athletes. The “Hyrox” discipline is divided into 8 kilometers of running and 8 strength, resistance and endurance exercises, where once the exercise has been performed, a kilometer of running is done eight times (division by age, modality and weights).
