A bad surprise happened to a lady at the cemetery in Arliano, a small village on the outskirts of Lucca. They stole a statue from the grave of her loved ones. The woman went to the cemetery about a fortnight after the last time and here she realized that the statue of the Madonna had been stolen, probably in bronze measuring around 70 centimetres, of a certain economic, but above all emotional, value, as often happens in these cases.
The lady looked at the ground, imagining a small collapse or thinking of a problem with the structure. But after a few seconds she realized. There was no possibility of giving too much space to the imagination. So she filed a detailed complaint with the police. It is not known whether video surveillance cameras are present in the small cemetery. If possible, the images will be observed, perhaps the external ones, to check whether someone has carried a heavy burden like the one that must have been the image of the metal Virgin and that ‘height.
Among other things, the thief or thieves must also have taken time to detach the base that connected the statue to the tomb and if they used particular tools, they would have attracted attention. A mystery, at least for the moment. The investigations will try to give a face and a name to whoever stole this sacred object.
