the Venetian League is missing contributions for 300 thousand euros

VENICE – The accounts are not in the red, but it is still a shortfall: in the coffers of League of Veneto there should be around 300 thousand euros more, money that should come from the contributions of the regional councilors – but also of the public administrators of the main entities – but which are not paid. Some arrears are considered lost. For example: the Paduan Fabrizio Boron before being expelled from the League a year ago he was behind in his contributions starting from 2021 and it is clear that that money will not arrive, especially since the regional councilor joined Forza Italia. Idem Gabriele Michieletto, who risks expulsion for having supported in the municipal elections of Scorzè not Giovanni Battista Mestriner supported by the party, but the outgoing mayor Nais Marcon, a clash that will culminate with the run-off on Sunday 23 June. «I’m 57 years old, one face, and it’s not for sale. Correctness and consistency are more important than any card”, wrote Michieletto on social media. And then there are the historical defaulters, such as the president of the Second Commission in the Veneto regional council, Silvia Rizzotto from Treviso, who last year was not even able to vote at the congress, removed because she was not up to date with her contributions. In fact, now the correct Northern League members risk paying for the others too. Because expenses are increasing, there are employee salaries to pay, the utilities of the offices and, in view of the next electoral campaign for the Regionals, the League wants to have a little cash in hand. Solution: those who already pay 1,200 euros every month will probably have to pay more. The hypothesis, in fact, is to revise the amounts upwards.

The “hole” of 300 thousand euros emerged in the budget of the Venetian League, brought to the examination of the party’s regional board yesterday morning. It was the only topic under discussion, then approved unanimously. The accounts are in order. But there is the problem of defaulters. It was decided to call them, one by one, so as to try to recover the sums owed by next September. About fifteen defaulters. Furthermore, not everyone paid the 700 euros requested last September by the secretary Alberto Stefani to pay for the buses to Pontida.
The rule at the League is as follows: 10 thousand euros of contribution when the candidacy is accepted in the Region, another 10 thousand at the time of the election and then, every month, a contribution of 1,200 euros to the Veneto party. The parliamentarians, however, pay 3 thousand euros to the federal party. Knowing who the regional ones are who don’t pay is not difficult because the contributions are public, it’s all written on the League website. Indeed, on the sites. The governor Luca Zaia, for example, still pays into the current account of the “old” Liga (www.leganordligaveneta.it) and with him also the mayor of Monselice Giorgia Bedin. Virtually everyone else pays into the new Liga’s current account (www.ligaonline.it). The last “slip” published is that of April 2024 and in order, for the first four months of the year, i.e. a total of 4,800 euros, there were only Silvia Maino, Marco Andreoli, Giulio Centenaro, Manuela Lanzarin, Giuseppe Pan, Luciano Sandonà, Francesca Scatto, Alberto Villanova, Alessandra Sponda, Filippo Rigo, Francesco Calzavara, Elisa De Berti, Roberto Marcato, Roberto Ciambetti, Roberta Vianello, Sonia Brescacin, Nicola Finco. Out of 40 “regionals”, only 17 in order, plus Zaia and Marco Zecchinato who had advanced: 6 thousand euros.

MOBILITATION
Meanwhile, Secretary Stefani is organizing the demonstration for differentiated autonomy. Despite new fights in Montecitorio, the reform will be approved next week. «From Tuesday every day is a good day», Stefani is convinced and he published the San Marco flag on social media inviting supporters and militants to mobilize: «The left and the M5s raise the climate of provocation on autonomy, they even call to rally a square for next week, against the law that they define as “breaking Italy”. I propose to you a large regional demonstration, with the flags of Veneto and the League in hand, here in Veneto. Are you there?”. Among the first to respond was the regional councilor Giulio Centenaro: «I will be there, with the flag of San Marco and with the pride of someone who, after years and years of battles, has managed to get where once one could only hope». It will happen on Friday in Montecchio Maggiore (where a difficult run-off for the Northern League member Milena Cecchetto is at stake), it is not excluded that Matteo Salvini and the minister Roberto Calderoli will also arrive.

THE PIN
And in view of the approval of the reform, there are those who have also thought about gadgets. Giuseppe Paolin, organizational manager of the Venetian League, had the Autonomy Brooch made: he portrays Alberto da Giussano resting on the flag of Veneto, in total there are 5 thousand examples at 5 euros each. Or more, for those who consider it, because it will be a free offer.
