Registrations more than doubled, guests who walked international taraflexes and the possibility of discovering the area with this year’s excursion to Lipari
VILLAFRANCA TIRRENA – The Sicily Beach Volley School raises the bar for the second edition of the Sicily Beach Volley Summer Camp. The Tyrrhenian club renews its summer event, a real novelty for Southern Italy, with the second edition of the camp which will see, from 3 to 6 July, volleyball enthusiasts spend a few days in contact with champions and coaches of the highest level, learning some secrets on the pitch, both indoor volleyball and beach volleyball, and above all enjoy some of the beauty that the Tyrrhenian coast can offer in summer.
“We are approaching this second edition – he declares Carmelo Mazzadirector of the Sicily Beach Volley School – with enthusiasm and aware that this second experience will go great. We already have around 100 registrations and it will still be possible to register for a few more weeks. Unlike last year we will have the opportunity to make up a group of smaller ones, Under 13 and 14 and a group of older athletes Under 16/17. Last year the majority were girls, this year we have equalized this figure too. We will try to welcome the participants in the warmest way possible so that, like those who made friends last year, they will want to return next year”. People who have trod international fields such as Gottardo, Diamantini, Serena Ortolani and the Sicilian Davide Saitta, new signing of Saturnia Acicastello. Davide Mazzanti, former coach of the national team, will also be present, but not on the staff, but our point of reference who will coordinate these champions is Romano Giannini. The staff will pass on all their experience to these enthusiastic kids. I would also like to remind you that many participants, especially the little ones, will be accompanied by their parents who, like our guests, will stay overnight for the days of the camp in our area. Romano Giannini, returns to Sicily after last year’s experience. Coach with more than 20 years of experience in Serie B and Serie A. Over the course of his career, several promotions and Italian Cups in Serie B. A successful CV enriched in recent years, by the role of assistant coach at Cucine Lube Civitanova, on staff with Blengini who won the championship.
Enrico Diamantini, central player of 204 cm with a very respectable palmares. In Civitanova in particular he won everything he could: championship, Italian Cup, Champions League and Club World Cup. A precocious talent who had already exploded in the youth sectors in 2015 he was among the protagonists of the promotion of Potenza Picena from A2 to the Super League and he was in the national team.
Mattia Gottardo, spiker from Padua and the youngest of the staff group. At just 23 years old he already has five seasons in the Super League, three with Padova, then the experience at Lube and is now registered with Cuneo. First call-ups to the Under national team for him starting from 2021, with the Italy shirt he won gold at both the U21 World Cup and the U22 European Championship.
Davide Saitta, setter born in Catania who will return to play in Sicily at Saturnia Acicastello. He won a French championship during his spell in Paris 2015-2016. In the under national teams he won the prizes as best setter and in the senior national team, with his first call-ups starting in 2008, he won gold at the Mediterranean Games in 2009 and silver at the European championship in 2013.
Serena Ortolani, opposite this year registered with Adolfo Consolini in Serie A2. In the past several seasons in the top flight where you won four championships and two Italian Cups. At an international level, she has three Champions Leagues and with the national team jersey, dressed from 2004 to 2018 of which she was also captain, two golds in the European championship, a silver in the world championship and a World Cup in 2007.
There will be also Davide Mazzanti, Serena’s spouse, but will not be part of the coaching group. The former coach of the women’s national team will enjoy the Sicilian summer atmosphere and there will be the opportunity to take a photo with him, have autographs signed and exchange a few words.

Morning: arrival and accommodation in the hotel of the participants; press conference for presentation and delivery of clothing kits.
Afternoon: training in the indoor gym at PalaCampagna in Saponara or at the Sicily Center in Villafranca Tirrena.
Evening: Dancing evening at Canarillo Brillo.

Camp closing tournament with semi-finals and finals in the afternoon, awards ceremony and farewells.
