46-year-old arrested at Ipercoop uses ATM stolen from a woman to buy two smartphones

He tries to buy two expensive smartphones with the ATM stolen from a lady, but the “hit” fails. A 46-year-old man resident in Imola is in trouble, arrested by the police at the Ipercoop of the Leonardo Center on charges of aggravated theft, improper use of credit cards and carrying a cutting instrument without justified reason. For him the judge, after having validated the arrest, ordered the police to sign. The man is already banned from approaching his family due to mistreatment.

The episode dates back to a few days ago, a manager of the Ipercoop telephone department drew the attention of some agents, reporting to them the presence of a suspicious person. The man, shortly before, bought a smartphone worth around 800 euros and immediately afterwards wanted to buy a second worth 700 euros, but was unable to do so because the ATM credit was not sufficient. At that point, the 46-year-old left the shopping center and then returned to the telephone department to try to purchase lower value items with the debit card.

The officers thus stopped the subject, already known to the police for precedents linked to crimes against property and people and for the improper use of credit cards, with in his hand four packs of electronic material such as Bluetooth, earphones and two USB cables for smartphones. Given his previous record and according to the account of the head of the telephone department, the police searched him and found him in possession, not only of the smartphone he had just purchased, but also of an ATM, car keys, a 50 euro banknote, of a pair of scissors and another telephone. Material later discovered to be the property of a 74-year-old lady from Imola.

Not being able to provide explanations, the 46-year-old admitted that shortly before he had stolen a bag from a car parked in the Villa Clelia area, then thrown it on the street before heading to the shopping center by bicycle. Bag, thanks to his story, recovered and returned to the robbed woman. At the police station, during the complaint, she declared that she had left her bag for a few moments in the parked car with the window slightly lowered on the driver’s side.
