The Franzone Sindaco Group has agreed to meet the candidates who will compete in the runoff.
He illustrated to both of them the three essential political-programmatic points for the Group as a condition for supporting the run-off, requesting the appropriate guarantees for the achievement of those objectives.
The points are: respect for the referendum outcome for joining the metropolitan city of Catania, the provision of health-hospital services already foreseen by the DAs of the Sicilian Region, water for the city and the countryside (dams).
The point that turned out to be the most painful was the question regarding the transition to the metropolitan city of Catania which saw the citizens of Gelato vote en masse in the confirmatory referendum called at the time and which has still remained unsatisfied.
On this issue the answers were different. The Mayoral Candidate Grazia Cosentino, although adhering to two of the three proposed points, showed important uncertainties and distinctions on the issue concerning membership of the Metropolitan City of Catania and offered insufficient guarantees for its immediate implementation included in a timetable set out in an unspecified timetable.
It guaranteed a department with the delegations relating to the points posed by the Group, as long as the transfer to the metropolitan city of Catania was not mentioned, but a generic respect for the expressed popular will.
The Mayoral Candidate Terenziano Di Stefano fully agreed with the three points, committing to immediately and directly delegate Filippo Franzone to the concrete implementation of the programmatic points based on the agreement.
Specifically, it guaranteed a joint personal effort by the candidate for Mayor and the entire coalition for its immediate implementation.
It also guaranteed, despite the absence of Councillors, the delegation to Filippo Franzone for Economic Development for the entire duration of the union.
A joint public statement by the Di Stefano coalition consolidated this commitment.
The results of the meetings were illustrated to the Group which, after extensive and frank debate, concluded to support the position of greater openness and guarantee offered by the candidate Terenziano Di Stefano.
