Murder of the thief in the house, the Reggio Calabria Review confirms the arrest in prison for Francesco Putortì

The Court of Review of Reggio Calabria deemed the precautionary needs to exist and confirmed the arrest in prison for Francesco Putortì, the 48-year-old butcher accused of killing Alfio Stancampiano, 30 years old and originally from Catania, who entered inside his home in the Oliveto di Rosario Valanidi district in Reggio Calabria, and of having injured Giovanni Bruno, 46 years old, also from Catania. The first, stabbed, was abandoned by his accomplices in the gardens of the Morelli hospital, where he later died, while the second, after having ferried to Sicily, was forced because he was injured to go to the hospital in Messina where he was admitted.

The investigations of the flying squad and the carabinieri allowed the prosecutor Giovanni Bombardieri and the deputy Nunzio De Salvo to outline the context in which the murder and attempted murder took place. According to the reconstructions of the investigators, the two thieves would have attempted a robbery in the home of Putortì who, upon returning home, surprised them on the upper floor of the building. At that point, the butcher, according to his story, took a knife and during a scuffle hit the two thieves who then fled, dropping the guns they had just stolen and which were legally held by Putorti, defended by lawyers Giulia Dieni and Natale Polimeni.

The Prosecutor’s Office immediately ordered the arrest of the suspect, which was then validated by the investigating judge Giovanna Sergi who issued a precautionary custody order against the butcher for whom “there are serious indications of guilt”. Order now confirmed by the Review which will file the reasons within 45 days.
