Prato, 14 June 2024 – It was supposed to be a party and a party it was. Perhaps with a few fewer attendances compared to 2021, but still with an excellent public response. The passage of One thousand miles from Prato – the second after those of three years ago – was a great success in the historic centre, where citizens of all ages came together to watch the transit of over 700 cars. The colors of the cars dominate, the roar of the engines and the smiles of the drivers from all over Europe. Among these also the former Formula One, Giancarlo Fisichella. In the province of Prato, the cars entered Carmignano, at Il Pinone. Half an hour later we arrive in viale della Repubblica, Pecci area, after crossing Poggio a Caiano, via Roma, the industrial axis and via Berlinguer.
At 5.15pm, the first vehicles arrive in the centre, namely the 120 modern Ferraris of the “Ferrari Tribute”, followed by the full electric cars of the Mille Miglia Green. Starting from 6.15pm it was the turn of the 420 historic cars to pass by the museum for contemporary art (around 6.30pm they appeared at the Emperor’s Castle). The 11 unique model hypercars closed the event around 9pm.
As regards the route, from Viale della Repubblica the caravan turned towards the preferential lane of Via Ferrucci. From here we landed in Piazza San Marco and Viale Piave for the time control near the Emperor’s Castle. From this point onwards the new features of the 2024 edition began: first there was a stamp control in Piazza del Comune, then the cars passed through Piazza del Duomo for the first time. Followed by via Muzzi, piazza San Domenico, Porta Pistoiese with the welcome of the Chinese community, via Bologna and the entrance to the viale del Fabbricone Storico. The latter was the only private section of the Mille Miglia. The final part of the Prato stage saw the cars circulate along Ponte Datini, viale Borgovalsugana, via Firenze and head towards the provincial border with Calenzano.
