“Considering what has been written and declared several times by FS and RFI on enhancement of services along the Florence-Rome AV line we strongly request that the Region take action with the service managers in order to request a increase in the offer of the number of high-speed service stops along the Direttissima in the Arezzo and Chiusi hubsstarting from the next time change in December”.

With these words, PD councilors Vincenzo Ceccarelli, Lucia De Robertis, Elena Rosignoli and Anna Paris presented a question to the regional council regarding the prospects of the high-speed service on the railway line “Direttissima” Rome-Florence.

“Already during the hearing in the “Transport Commission of the Council” last February, through its representatives, the RFI company had reassured us about the possibility of identifying a technical solution in the face of a possible request for passage three to eight pairs of AV services that insist on Arezzo and Chiusi-Chianciano Terme.

In recent years, the councilors declare, important investments have also been made that have implemented and improved the technology of the AV line in this very stretch.

Since 2020, for example, it has been activated on the Direttissima section between Rovezzano and the Arezzo Sud junction l’ERTMSthe most advanced system for supervising and controlling train spacing.

Among other things, this same system was also started at the end of December 2022 on the Arezzo Sud junction-Orvieto Sud junction section.

The same line is financed with PNRR funds for the installation of the new ERMTS L2 system which will improve the performance of the line in terms of regularity, thanks to a reduction in infrastructural failures in safety and signalling systems.

All this makes the importance of the two railway hubs of Chiusi and Arezzo even more evident for the entire south of the region, also considering the fact that numerous intercity services have been moved and diverted onto the Adriatica line.

It is essential, conclude Ceccarelli De Robertis Rosignoli and Paris, to guarantee, starting from the next winter timetable, the increase in the number of AV stops in the two stations”.
