In Trentino the cost of living increases, but purchasing power decreases: families are increasingly poorer: the Acli analysis – Economy

TRENT. In the last few years inflation increased in the province of Trento by 15.6% causing a decrease in the overall purchasing power of families, excluding the richest groups, of 124 million euros. Comparing the incomes of 2020 and 2023 shows that an average family has suffered a drop in income of around 2000 euros with peaks of 3000 euros perfor the more well-off families (dual-income without heavy spending), who evidently are not affected much by the increases, while the situation becomes objectively more difficult for single-income families with heavy spending who in the same period have seen their income decrease their income of around 1000 euros.

The average family loses a total of six shopping carts each year with peaks of up to seven trolleys for divorced or separated people and singles or unmarried couples with family loads.

These are some significant data contained in the survey carried out by CAF ACLI Trentino in collaboration with the IREF (Institute of Educational and Training Research) thanks to the data from the National Observatory on Family Income promoted by the ACLI.

Based on the anonymous analysis of the 730 forms presented at the ACLI CAF counters, a statistical panel was created involving over 600,0000 taxpayers who continuously contacted the purchasing services throughout Italy in the years 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 .

Of these taxpayers, 38,000 reside in the province of Trento and on the basis of anonymous data acquired from tax returns it was possible to deduce useful indications relating to the trend of inflation, the increase in the cost of living, mortgage expenses and healthcare. In the province of Trento, the median incomes (which represent the level of well-being of the average individual or the average family) in urban areas are around 26,000 euros while those in internal areas are around 24,100 with a marked difference of around 2800 euros.

Inequalities are increasing: the decline in income affected 77.8% of families, highlighting an increasingly wide gap between a small percentage of rich people and a multitude of families increasingly exposed to the high cost of living.
