From today to Sunday the tenth edition of the Milan Cup will be held in Cattolica

After last year’s extraordinary experience in Romagna, the Milan Cup, the celebration of the Rossoneri Academy, returns to Cattolica, which this year celebrates its 10th edition.

The welcome received pushed the Club to provide continuity and re-involve a hospitable and passionate territory. And from here the passion for the Rossoneri shirt is transmitted through football, that of the young athletes, that of the coaches and educators, that of the fans. A solid bond that holds together millions of pieces of a large mosaic like the Milan Academy project both in Italy and around the world.

From Friday 14th to Sunday 16th June, 750 girls and boys will liven up the Giorgio Calbi Stadium in Cattolica, in the beating heart of Romagna. Next to them, divided on the fields to follow the 196 races scheduled by the tenth edition of the Milan Cup 2024 by Banco BPM, the 100 coaches of the 48 Football Schools and Technical Centers affiliated to Milan. The tournament will feature the Primi Calci (2015-2016) and Pulcini (2013-2014) categories. The young athletes will be accompanied by their families for a beautiful audience setting, with around 2000 people expected. Like last year, this edition will also be able to count on the presence of three foreign football schools from India, Romania and Switzerland, demonstrating the “contamination” of the Rossoneri colors in the world.

The event, which closes the sporting season of the Rossoneri Academy, demonstrates the attention of the Club, together with its partners and in particular Banco BPM, towards the development of talent and the diffusion of the values that Milan and the entire Academy project wants to pass on to new generations. An athlete is not just an athlete, but is first of all a person who lives within a community and it is also the task of those who work with young people to help them grow as athletes, professionals and as the citizens of tomorrow, capable of having a positive impact.

Milan Cup is synonymous with inclusiveness. Thanks to the activity of the Milan Foundation and the involvement of the Coop. Sociale Ca’Santino and the Davide Pacassoni Association, on the first day of the event, at 5.00 pm, an integrated football match will be played which will see young people with disabilities as protagonists followed by the two associations, together with some girls and boys from Cattolica Calcio, who provides the sports facility for the entire tournament.

This will be followed by the inaugural moment with the parade of banners designed by all the participating football schools. The theme chosen by the Club for the tenth edition is “Health & Well-being” and takes up one of the themes from the ten-year UEFA campaign with the aim of activating and promoting collective action to respect Human Rights and the environment within of the context of European football. The most significant banner will be displayed at San Siro during one of the matches of the 2024/25 season and will become the slogan of the next Milan Cup, which in this edition will see the participants playing and having fun under the message: “Game, passion, humility, football beats diversity.”

Like every inauguration, the sporting event will be presented by the Rossoneri actor and speaker Gegio, accompanied by Sara Federico. The Milan Cup will be officially opened when girls and boys have taken the traditional oath of fair play, followed by a show by dancers. The inaugural moment will close with speeches from the Brand Ambassador Daniele Massaroof the footballer of the women’s first team Kamila Dubcová and the Primavera footballer Mattia Malaspina.

On Saturday 15 June, however, a delegation from the Academy will have the opportunity to see our national team’s first match at the Italy-Albania European Championships, in Piazza Primo Maggio where the Municipality of Cattolica has set up a giant screen. Innovation also enters the Milan Cup thanks to the ES YOUTH app thanks to which it will be possible to follow results, rankings and pitches in real time.
