Olbia and Gallura, prevention of intestinal cancer: here is the free exam

Olbia. ASL2 Gallura has launched an important prevention program for the early diagnosis of intestinal tumors (colon rectum), as part of the Sardinia Screening Project. The initiative is aimed at all citizens residing in the Municipalities of ASL2 Gallura, aged between 50 and 69, and involves carrying out a test to detect occult blood in the faeces, to be repeated every two years.

The material necessary for carrying out the test, i.e. the diagnostic kit, can be collected free of charge from the trusted pharmacy in your municipality of residence. After carrying out the test, the kit must be returned to the same pharmacy within one month of collection.

The test does not involve any cost for citizens. A referral from a general practitioner is not required, but he or she remains available to provide information and support on the screening program and the execution of the test.

Whoever received the letter must present it to the pharmacy to collect the diagnostic kit and deliver it again to the pharmacy together with the completed kit. In case of loss of the invitation letter, it is possible to request a duplicate at the ASL2 Gallura Screening Center. For further information or clarifications, you can call the toll-free number 800 283333 from Monday to Friday from 9am to 12pm.

The municipality of Telti wanted to underline the importance of the program, urging citizens to actively participate. In a note, the municipality said: “Dear fellow citizens, many of you have received this letter which unfortunately has not been given due importance. We therefore urge you to go to the pharmacy to collect the kit and return it to the same pharmacy on Wednesday. It is a free test and absolutely fundamental for an early diagnosis of intestinal tumors.”

ASL2 Gallura and local administrations invite all eligible citizens to seize this important prevention opportunity. Early detection of colorectal cancers can make a difference in treatment and quality of life, and this program represents a significant step towards protecting public health.
