THE Carabinieri of the Compagnia di Piazza Dante and the Local Police in Catania have seized the terraces of two grill restaurants near via Antonino di Sangiuliano and Piazza Dante n.in which various irregularities were found. In one they discovered that a closed metal structure measuring 30 m2 and approximately 3 meters high had been built without any authorization and completely occupied the sidewalk in front of the business. Furthermore, nine tables, 33 chairs, a fridge display case and even a brazier had been positioned in a nearby area. The owner was reported for illegal construction and administratively sanctioned for the occupation of public land.



Similar irregularities were ascertained in the second controlled activity, where a fixed metal structure of approximately 25 m2 had been illegally erected. with a roof and a platform anchored to the ground inside which there were tables and chairs for customers. In front of the structure, on the road, there was a brazier, 15 tables, 38 chairs, four planters and other materials that were illegally occupying public land. Also in this case the owner was reported for illegal construction and fined.






All materials present on public roads have been placed under administrative seizure. Criminal seizure was triggered for the two illegally built structures. After having demarcated the areas and affixed the appropriate seals, the Carabinieri entrusted them to the custody of the two owners. The following day a patrol from the Catania Piazza Dante Company noticed that the seals had been completely removed from one of the two seized terraces. The owner was also reported for the crime of stealing or damaging seized things. The criminal seizure of the two terraces was validated by the investigating judge of the Court of Catania, who ordered the restoration of the places by the owners, who have already taken steps to dismantle all the illegally built structures, returning to the city a portion of the historic center which It wasn’t usable before.
