Foggia. “Parco Iconavetere must reopen as soon as possible. We have already asked the municipal administration to allow citizens to use a green space of considerable historical importance”.
The deputy group leader of Forza Italia in the city council, Pasquale Rignanesepromoted the reopening of the space in via Ciano, where the gates have been closed for some time.
“At the entrance to the park we must also remove a contra legem sign which prohibits entry to our four-legged friends even with a leash, as required by current regulations – underlines Pasquale Rignanese -. A report that we have already made to the competent councilor Lucia Aprile in order to return to the people of Foggia an area that has preserved the Iconavetere table for years and which has often been used for outdoor religious ceremonies, considering that it stands on the area which was occupied by the convent of the Capuchin Friars, in whose church the first apparition of the Madonna Iconavetere took place during the earthquake of 20 March 1731 which destroyed Foggia. An area that the centre-right administration had reopened to the city but which, inexplicably, has returned to being the subject of neglect and abandonment for a few years.”
“Right near the Iconavetere Park, we asked that the area between via Gazza and via Ciano be permanently pedestrianized. Because, especially in winter, the residents of the area are forced to walk in the mud – concludes the deputy group leader of Forza Italia in the Municipality of Foggia – in an area that sees the presence of a nursery and various commercial activities. We hope that the Councilor for Public Works can intervene as soon as possible to make that space walkable.”
