Enea Benedetto: if Legnano fails it won’t be my fault

LEGNANO – The more days that pass, the more it emerges that what has been published in recent weeks by Sport Legnano on the precarious financial situation of AC Legnano it was based on more than reliable sources, despite the threats of a lawsuit launched by the old lilac patron Emiliano Mountaineers.

A confirmation, in fact, that Legnano is full of debt and that a part date back to the old management it comes from none other than the current lilac President Aeneas Blessedwho from the microphones of Be.Pi TV painted a decidedly disheartening but very clear picture: “We have a problematic situation that we have not yet resolved. If we end up bankrupt, it won’t be my fault, because I haven’t made a single euro of these debts, in fact I’m paying them off. The responsibility lies with the previous ownership and we are trying together to find a solution.”

Furthermore, another factor of no small importance also emerges: if an agreement were to be reached for the sale of the club, according to what was declared by the current top Lilac manager, the previous Patron could assert rights on the assignment. In practice, according to Benedetto’s words, the final say on a possible new transfer of ownership could fall to Mountaineersby virtue of unspecified agreements that would have been made between the two at the time of the club’s change of hands on March 14th.

However we are attempting an extreme rescue – he added Blessedwho then recalled how the debts are not only linked to the salaries of players and technicians, but would involve other suppliers: “Currently, the debt amounts to more than 300,000 euros, including salaries. There are also unpaid salaries to players and coaches who had their contracts terminated during the current season. They are also coming payment requests for unpaid rent in 2022 and 2023. I was told previously that the debt was 40,000 euros for four months, so I thought it was around 140-150,000 euros.”
Instead the figure is much higher because, as the current lilac patron declared, “there are other debts that had somehow been kept quiet” at the time of handover.

There was an agreement with President Montanari that, in case of difficulties, we would look for solutions together. Difficulties that arose as early as April 15th. We are trying to collect some credits managed by him and which are related to some ongoing lawsuits that have been won and for which we have obtained injunctions, but at the moment we are unable to convert them into liquidity, which would help at least pay the kids”concluded the lilac president.
