“Good morning, writes Francesco Saldaini, following the incessant rains, the “swampy” areas in the Cardina area have filled with water, generating an out-of-control proliferation of mosquitoes that make life outdoors impossible. Children cannot enjoy the green areas and are unable to play outside even during the day in the neighboring gardens. Allergic people have had to resort to drugs to counter an unsustainable situation, and it is impossible to open the windows or get some air without being literally attacked by clouds. of mosquitoes. Domestic animals are also victims of this anomalous situation, with a high risk of transmission of diseases of which mosquitoes are often carriers.
Any intervention on private properties to eliminate the proliferation of mosquitoes, such as for example the removal of water from planters and the treatment of manholes with insecticide and bleach, is nullified by the reformation of colonies in the “pond” area shortly after the Crotto del Wolf whose customers are eaten by insects. I, and many other residents of the area, fear that public health may be in serious danger and that any delay in remedying the problem could have serious consequences.
For this reason, it is believed that the situation requires immediate and vigorous intervention to prevent the possible spread of mosquito-borne diseases.
