The TAR rejected the appeals presented by the Municipalities of Trento and Rovereto against the proposed Variation to the Provincial Urban Plan (PUP) of the Provincial Council regarding connections in the Eastern Corridor of Trentino.
The ruling establishes that the Province has correctly started the comparison and established the analysis criteria, without harming the interests of municipal administrations.
The president of the Province, Maurizio Fugattiunderlined the importance of political-administrative dialogue and reiterated the commitment to continue the infrastructure program illustrated in the current and previous legislature.

Last December, the Municipalities of Trento and Rovereto had contested the Council’s proposal, but the TAR confirmed that the Province has not made definitive choices regarding the methods of connection with Veneto, but has instead defined a participatory process to identify environmentally friendly infrastructure solutions.
The Variant, as clearly emerges from the acts adopted by the Provincial Council with a broad and articulated participation of the interesting territories, it integrated the methods of implementation of the PUP by specifying the methodology, the purposes and the procedures for “address and resolve the issue of the connection with the Veneto, the traffic volumes that affect Valsugana and the connection needs that express in particular the territories of Vallarsa and the Cimbrian plateaus and to be able to prefigure, on the basis of the criteria and method established by variant, in a new participatory and planning phase, also the best connecting infrastructure of Trentino towards the outside in a south-eastern direction”.
“We respect the discussion and understand the reasons for a political-administrative dialectic that sometimes takes even decisive positions – commented the president Maurizio Fugatti – but at the same time it is our duty to continue along a path that has been widely illustrated and included in the program of this and the previous legislature. However, the discussion will naturally continue, as required by the regulations and with the full involvement of the parties during the discussion in the Chamber, once the bill reaches the Council”.
